Growing up on the North Shore, I always loved the beauty industry but found myself frustrated with the traditional salon experience.
I wanted to create something different. One of the most important features of Wish Dry Bar that I wanted to emphasize was the attention to detail. When you sit at your station, you have access to a charging station and the internet while we serve you coffee or water. We even have a liquor license to serve wine and champagne.
That level of service is very important to me. Every time I walk into Wish Dry Bar and see women sitting here getting their hair done, laughing together, and enjoying their coffee, it makes me happy. They walk away feeling great about an experience that offers a little bit of class and a little bit of fun.
Our Mission
The goal of Wish Dry Bar is to raise and enrich the lives of people within our style culture. We do this through perfect blowouts and elegance.
We understand that being chosen is a luxury. We take it seriously.
What Drives Us
Great hair adds confidence. That's not marketing speak. It's what we see every day.
Women are busy. This space exists for you to step out of your schedule and invest in yourself. Music. Laughter. Professional service. Me time that actually matters.
Our team is our priority. Happy stylists create better experiences. We provide comfortable spaces, health-driven equipment, and an environment where people want to work. Richard Branson said it best: "If you look after your staff, they'll look after your customers."
We also believe in passing it forward. Helping those in need is part of our company culture.
Opening During a Pandemic
January 2021. Not exactly ideal timing to launch a business based on close personal contact.
Everyone told me to wait. Delay the opening. See how things develop. Reasonable advice that I ignored.
The space on Bellevue Avenue in West Vancouver was perfect. Peter Wilds had designed the interior exactly as I envisioned. Cream walls. Gold accents. Natural light. A place where women would actually want to spend time. That level of service is very important to me. Every time I walk into Wish Dry Bar and see women sitting here getting their hair done, laughing together, and enjoying their coffee, it makes me happy. They walk away feeling great about an experience that offers a little bit of class and a little bit of fun.
We opened with strict safety protocols. Masks. Spacing. Limited capacity. The works.
And people came. Not because we advertised heavily. Word of mouth. One satisfied client telling another. The North Shore community embraced what we were building.
Our styling stations feature modern design with attention to every detail

Our West Vancouver salon designed by Peter Wilds combines elegance with comfort
Expanding to Downtown Vancouver
The Fairmont Pacific Rim location serves a different purpose. Business travelers need quick services between meetings. Hotel guests preparing for events. Brides wanting in-room styling for their wedding parties.
Same standards. Same products. Same training. Different pace.
Two locations. Two distinct experiences. One commitment to quality.
Building Wish Dry Bar
Creating something from scratch teaches you things that can't be learned any other way. You'll work harder than you imagined. Long hours become normal. But there's something special about watching your vision take physical form and seeing clients return because they trust what you've built.
The press coverage was gratifying. Western Living. Daily Hive. CBC interviews. Recognition matters. But what matters more is the stylist who's been with us since day one. The client who brings her daughter for her first professional blowout. The bride who chooses us for the most important day of her life. Those are the real measures of success.
The Wish Experience
When you enter our salon, our guest ambassador greets you. Takes your coat. Walks you to meet your stylist.
The stylist reviews treatment options with you. QR codes at every station show our full menu. Chargers available for your phone. Guest WiFi throughout the space.
We offer complimentary bottled water, tea, and Nespresso coffee. Our wet bar serves cocktails if you want something stronger.
You'll be walked to our washing station where your hair gets washed and treatment applied. Then back to your station where styling begins.
The entire process takes 45 to 60 minutes from wash to final style.
Welcome to Wish Dry Bar. A little bit of class and a little bit of fun.
Private Events
Our space is private. We host birthdays. Bridal showers. Any occasion you want to celebrate with family and friends.
Tell us the date and occasion. We'll plan the rest.

"I wanted to prove that you could build something excellent without compromising on quality or cutting corners. Every time I walk into Wish Dry Bar and see women sitting here getting their hair done, laughing together, and enjoying their coffee, it makes me happy. Wish Dry Bar is that proof."
Our Team
Every stylist at Wish Dry Bar trains to our standards before touching a client's hair. That takes time. Some don't make it through.
The ones who do understand that a blowout isn't just about technique. It's about reading hair texture. Understanding face shape. Listening to what the client actually wants versus what they think they want.
Experience matters. So does continued education. Our team does both.
Products We Choose
Professional products cost more. They also perform differently.
Davines brings Italian formulations focused on sustainability without sacrificing results. Kevin Murphy combines Australian innovation with salon-grade ingredients. R+Co delivers styling products that hold without feeling heavy.
We don't stock these brands because of marketing. We stock them because they work.
The Design Details
Peter Wilds designed our West Vancouver space. He's a Vancouver-based designer who understands how environment affects experience.
Natural light matters. So does comfortable seating. And colors that make you feel calm instead of anxious.
The space isn't trendy. It's timeless. That was intentional.
Trends fade. Quality endures.

What Comes Next
More of the same. Better execution. Deeper expertise.
We're not interested in rapid expansion or franchise opportunities. We're focused on perfecting what we already do.
Two locations running at the highest level. Stylists who keep improving. Clients who trust us with their hair repeatedly.
That's the plan. No revolution. Just excellence maintained consistently.
Why This Matters
Every business tells a story. Ours happens to be about an immigrant woman opening a hair salon during a pandemic and making it work through quality and persistence.
Nothing fancy. Just showing up. Doing the work. Delivering results.
If that resonates with you, we'd love to see you in one of our chairs.
